Atlassian ShipIt

Director — Corporate

Twice a year, Atlassian hosts its ‘ShipIt’ event, where employees showcase their innovative ideas to a global audience through a simultaneous live broadcast. This event embodies Atlassian’s culture of forward-thinking solutions and collaboration, with the primary goals of having fun, keeping audiences entertained, and winning them over. My role was pivotal in managing the technical and operational aspects of the broadcast, while also coordinating directly with on-air talent and handling logistics. The result was a seamless, engaging live event that highlighted the cutting-edge spirit of Atlassian and was a resounding success.

Collaborating with the innovative production agency CoBox, we engineered a dynamic live radio and show broadcast. The program was packed with fast-paced segments, direct audience interaction, and an uplifting atmosphere. My key proposal was to secure the right talent to captivate the Atlassian brand. I recommended the exceptional Tech Journalist and Podcast Host, Angharad “Rad” Yeo, whose vibrant energy was perfect for leading the show. The result was a highly engaging broadcast that resonated with the audience and was a resounding success.

Our live broadcast setup was a tech marvel, featuring four studio-quality SM7B microphones managed by a sophisticated control desk equipped with programmable hot buttons for sound effects, music mixing, and stings. We integrated inputs for live audience calls via Microsoft Teams, Slack, and mobile phones, ensuring seamless interaction. The production was captured using a three-camera setup, expertly mixed through a Blackmagic vision switcher. This cutting-edge configuration not only mirrored a professional live broadcast environment but also delivered exceptional results within budget.
